We refer to the general conditions for package trips and the package-trip law:
The costumer is obligated to inform us of defects in ordered products as soon as it is discovered. In some places, where a phone call might not be possible due to time differences, the customer will inform the hotel reception, rental car service, cruise service or other suppliers on site, in addition to sending us an e-mail with a description of what is lacking. We will try our best to right the wrong within a reasonable amount of time. Call us at 08050 or from abroad at +47 22 00 80 50.
The correct information about the event you have purchased will appear from your travel document and air ticket. So please make sure that you control these at acceptance.
Upon booking trips at Berg-Hansen Vacation’s website, the costumer has to give a valid email address. Berg-Hansen’s communication with the costumer, concerning confirmation of a booked trip, payment information, possible changes in flights and other important communication will happen using this email address. It is therefore the customers’ responsibility to frequently check this email address for information from Berg-Hansen after the booking has been made.
Included in the price
That which is included in the total shall be listed both in the bid and in the final confirmation. Control that it is coherent with your wish. The total price listed shall include all fees, charges and taxes required here in Norway. Local taxes and fees (ex. Airport fees, customs fees, hotel fees, tourist fees, etc.) are not included and have to be paid on site.
Price changes after contract agreement
The prices are based on those fees, tariffs and exchange rates that were in effect at the time when the offer was made. Price changes may occur after contract agreement. Price elevations can occur due to changes in transport costs, including fuel costs, taxes, fees and charges for some services like airport-, landing- and state fees etc. A price elevation shall be warned of as soon as possible and no later than 20 days before departure, and must not surpass 10% of the advertised price of the trip. Should these terms not be upheld, the costumer may cancel the trip without cost. However, under the condition that an annulment is reported in to Berg-Hansen as soon as the costumer has been notified. In the event of a decline in price within 20 days before departure, the customer cannot demand a price reduction. If domestic taxes or public fees are reduced, become non-existent, and are in effect within the day of departure, Berg-Hansen is obligated to compensate the amount, as long as it is more than 100NOK.
Upon booking the customer will be informed of the conditions and form of the payment. All tickets with restricted fare must be issued and paid immediately.
Hotels, rental cars, cruises and other on land events may have different terms of payment. The costumer will be informed of this when booking.
Additional booking or change of event
It is not a prerequisite that the costumer will purchase all aspects of their trip with us. Additional bookings like for instance for hotel, cruise, air ticket, rental car can be done eventually. In this case it is not considered a package trip.
Cancellation and no-show for flight, day of travel, destination and hotel
We follow the rules of the supplier when it comes to cancellations and no-shows. The costumer will be informed of this when booking and again at confirmation.
After the booking has been made, but before it is confirmed, the costumer will be informed of the terms of cancellation/making changes in hotel/cruise/rental car/other shore events. We will then follow these terms when cancellation/changes take place.
We follow the rules of the supplier when it comes to making changes. The costumer will be made aware of these when booking and again at confirmation.
Cancellation protection in the event of illness
See separate paragraph.
The prices include taxes and fees on the most affordable itinerary. Changes in currency rates and/or fees may occur.
Airport taxes may vary depending on the travel route and airline, these are calculated using the local currency and are specified in the tickets according to the exchange rate on the day of ticket issuance. The exact amount of the airport taxes will show the day the tickets are issued and will show on the receipt. We do note that the government of each country can introduce a fee while you are arriving/departing the destination. Local taxes are paid on site.
Delays may unfortunately occur now and then. The airlines each have their own rules for whether or not they cover food; possible overnight hotel stays etc. which are regulated by international agreements. Check first with those on site when it happens. In the event of extraordinary delays due to “force majeure”, we will follow the guidelines provided by the airline.
It is important to note that; if one chooses to travel using two separate tickets (ex. One domestic and one international), the airline will not take responsibility should one or the other be postponed or delayed.
Hotels in USA
Several hotels in USA will not allow people under the age of 21 to check in by themselves. If you are travelling to USA by yourself/with no one older, and are under 21 years of age, please inform us of this well as soon as possible so that we may find you alternative accommodation.
In the event that you wish to complain about an event, this must be shown on-site to one of our representatives who will try to fix the problem. Complaints that have not been presented to one of our representatives will not be handled by us. In the unfortunate event of dissatisfaction concerning the accommodation at a destination where we do not have any representatives, the complaint must be referred to the hotel reception. Complaints must be submitted in writing no later than one month after arriving home.
Travel insurance is not included in the price of the trip. The traveler must arrange for the necessary insurances themselves. Insurances such as luggage-, medical-, emergency-, liability insurance etc. may be good to have. Our travel consultants can help you with purchasing travel insurance and will offer it to you when you book your tickets.
Passport, visa and similar
It is the travelers’ responsibility to make sure that all the necessary documents like passports, visas and such are in order. Children must have their own passports. Please note that it is the responsibility of the traveler to be aware of visa regulations. Please also carefully note that some countries outside of Europe require a minimum of six months of validity for the passports. Our travel consultants will inform you off the general rules concerning visa and passport rules for Norwegian citizens. Additional information for Norwegian citizens can be found on: http://www.landsider.no/en/land/. We ask all non-Norwegian citizens to contact their embassy should they require more information.
Please note that the name on your ticket needs to be identical to the name in your passport. If you have several names, it is most important for the first and last names to coincide.
We note that changes may occur within arrival and departure regulations. We therefore ask that you contact your embassy or consult for accurate information.
A Norwegian foreigner’s passport does not apply as a Norwegian citizenship. Guest with foreigner’s passports must therefore check to see if they need a visa. Non-Nordic citizens with foreigner’s passports are especially encouraged to check with their countries embassy or consult.
The promoter is not responsible for damage or illness that may affect the traveler during the trip. Should further travel or the journey home happen outside of the scheduled itinerary, extra costs must be paid by the traveler him-/herself. Any possible compensation must be inquired of with the traveler’s insurance company.
The promoter is not responsible for events where artist performances, shows, football matches etc. are changed.
We also refer to the responsibility agreement of the airline, included in the air ticket. No destination in or outside of Norway can be guaranteed free of negative aspects that may be experienced as uncomfortable or dangerous. We assume that our guests have general knowledge about conditions that are commonly known and shown through the media. Should you have any specific questions, please ask our travel consultant who will be happy to answer any or all questions.
By “negative aspects” we refer to ex. Crime in larger cities and political, religious or social activities in certain countries.
When checking in in Europe, information shall be listen of the traveler’s rights, should something unforeseen or unusual happen. Like for instance; delay, denied boarding etc. We recommend that each and every one become familiar with these rules. Note that this only applies to European-registered airlines. Other rules may apply for non-European airlines.
Should there be any dispute between the operator and the costumer concerning the interpretation of this contract or the operator’s terms and conditions of travel in general, and the dispute cannot be resolved amicably, the customer may bring the case before the Complaints Board for Group Tours [Reklamasjonsnemnda for selskapsreiser], PO Box 2924, Solli, 0230 Oslo, tel. +47 22 54 60 02, within 4 weeks of receiving a definitive response from the operator and the operator having been notified of this deadline.
The National Insurance Administration reports of the EEA form E 111 “Going on vacation to an EEA country?” After the EEA agreement having now taken effect, one has now, upon a temporary stay in an EEA country, the right to medical treatment in urgent cases. You must document your right by submitting form E 111. The form must be attested by the social security office before travelling. We still recommend that you purchase travel insurance.
